Bruno Soares, better known as Piu, was born in Manhuaçu, in the interior of Minas Gerais, Brazil. At the age of 18, he moved to Rio de Janeiro to pursue his dreams in skateboarding and art. With a degree in Industrial Design, Piu has embraced graphic arts as his primary form of expression.
In addition to his artistic pursuits, Piu is an entrepreneur who founded his own skateboarding school in 2017. His passion for the sport and artistic expression is evident in his dedication to various social projects. He tirelessly works towards the advancement of skateboarding, sharing his love for the sport and art with all students and individuals he encounters. Piu is a true skateboarding enthusiast, spreading the culture and benefits of the sport within his community and beyond.
The Piu Skate School started in 2017 at the now-closed "Skate in Vein" indoor skatepark located in the Recreio dos Bandeirantes neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro. Initially, our focus was on local children from the neighborhood and underprivileged kids from the Terreirão community.
Over time, we expanded our outreach to include private schools, social projects, and sports events. The school has already directly impacted the lives of over 1000 children, contributing to the development of the city of Rio.
Currently, we operate in some of the best skate parks in the city, such as Praça do Ó, Ilha Pura, and the skate park at Posto 12. The mission of Piu Skate School is to convey the true essence of skateboarding to EVERYONE, promoting inclusivity and sharing the core values of the sport.
