This proposal aims to preserve Bless Skateshop, a cornerstone of São Paulo and Brazil's skateboarding community, founded by skateboarders for skateboarders. Bless Skateshop plays a vital role in the local community, especially during the challenging times brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. It serves as a guardian of Sopa de Letras Square, home to the only DIY skatepark fully supported by the Gnars community.
The recovery of Bless Skateshop is essential. With the invaluable support of skateboarder and artist Will Dias, a dedicated collaborator committed to our growth and progress, we can ensure the skateshop continues to thrive and support the skateboarding culture.
For years, we've dreamed of having Bless skateboard decks, manufactured by an American company, reaching the quality of the Real, DGK and Baker brands. The scarcity of materials in Brazil has made this goal even more challenging.
At the end of 2021, an unexpected opportunity made this dream come true. After providing sales advice to my friend Julio De la Cruz, I received payment for the customized forms I had dreamed of. To get them, however, we had to travel to Peru.
A journey to Assis Brasil, with a tight deadline to pick up the shapes in Puerto Maldonado. The trip was full of anxiety and challenges, but determination drove me on.
The crossing to Peru was intense, and the lush jungle landscape made the adventure unique. Holding the shapes in Puerto Maldonado, I felt that all the effort had been worth it.
When I returned to Bless Skateshop, I brought back not only quality shapes, but a story of overcoming. This journey symbolizes perseverance for the skateboarding community in the northern zone of São Paulo, showing that we should never give up on our dreams. Skateboarding, more than a sport, is a way of life that teaches us to persist and overcome adversity.
