Event Description

Salt Spring Slasher is both a longboard race and freeride, featuring two days of skating and camping on the beautiful Salt Spring Island. Despite its remote location, it has historically been a popular event with the Coast Longboard community and has been running for 13 years.

Event Sponsorship Plan

Gnars DAO will provide the prize purse for the event, consisting of $300 CAD for the podiums. In return, we will be announced as the major sponsor of the event. I will give a short speech as I hand the winners their prize money and swag, including QR code stickers.

Prize Split

  • 1st: $150
  • 2nd: $80
  • 3rd: $50
  • 4th: $20

Marketing Plan / Content Creation Contest

To maximize marketing from this event, a content creation contest will be held for the best video and best picture from the event. These will be posted on Instagram, based on criteria such as fitting into the format of a reel, tagging us, and using a specific hashtag. These posts will then be shared on SkateHive with the owners' permission to help recoup costs and demonstrate the platform to users.

At the event, I will educate participants about the platform, offer to set them up to post their own content, and earn rewards.

Voting will take place on our platforms, and the process is yet to be determined. This will encourage participants to create accounts to vote, teaching them about web3.

Contest Details

  • Voting: 10 days after the event, allowing 3 days to post on SkateHive and receive rewards before the contest ends.
  • Prizes: $100 for best video and $75 for best picture, with the possibility of increasing the prize through delegations.
  • Participants: Can keep their rewards or delegate them to the community for the prize pool.

Further On-boarding Efforts

Workshop

During the camping portion of the event, I will host a workshop on our platforms and how to participate. I will help troubleshoot any issues or set up accounts using my 20+ years of technical support expertise.

QR Codes and Swag

Graphics for shirts and stickers, designed by D.C.O.T.art, will include QR codes to ensure attendees can find us after the event. I am also having several Noggles printed by a local 3D printer for media creation and giveaway.

HowDarylRolls Video

I will shoot a video documenting my journey to the event, skating, filming, and the workshop. This video will be released post-event to recap and demonstrate our work, including the proposal process. It will also be used for future marketing of the event.
