Description

The Maryhill Ratz have been organizing events on Maryhill for longer than I’ve been skating and are one of, if not the most respected Freeride / race organizers in longboarding. The road itself is a historic landmark, being the first paved road in western America and an early attempt at creating switchback roads to make descending terrain easier for early cars. Now no longer part of the highway and located on private land, it remains a favorite spot for all types of downhill enthusiasts.

This event features a combination of Freeride, downhill lessons through the Maryhill University, and the Tour De Maryhill race. The Freeride is open to all types of downhill gravity sports, including drift trikes, and even a beagle on a skateboard. The Maryhill University, which I attended at the start of my downhill journey, has been pivotal in shaping future riders and is a major reason for my support of this event. The Tour De Maryhill race adds to the excitement, making the event more affordable and inclusive for a diverse range of athletes and spectators.

Event Sponsorship Plan

The organizers have requested $800 USD for the podium prize money. I will distribute the prize money while highlighting our role as a sponsor. I also plan to create shirts and QR code stickers for distribution during the awards ceremony and am looking into producing banners or flags that can be reused for future events.

Marketing Plan / Content Creation Contest

To maximize marketing from this event, I will host a content creation contest for the best video and best picture from the event. These will be posted on DH Nouns, where votes will be counted. The posts will then be shared on mainstream social media with permission from the owners to boost event marketing. I will educate participants about the platform and offer to set them up to post their content and earn rewards, in addition to potentially winning.

Contest Details

(Details are subject to change based on community discussion)

  • The contest will be hosted on DH Nouns, with one vote per person.
  • It will be open for one week, with winners announced during a live stream that I will host.
  • Prizes: $100 for the best video and $75 for the best picture, with the possibility of increasing the prize through delegations if people post on SkateHive.

Further On-boarding Efforts

Workshop

During the camping portion of the event, I will host a workshop to teach participants about our platforms and how to engage with them. I will provide hands-on support and set up accounts using my 20+ years of technical support experience.

QR Codes and Swag

Graphics for shirts and stickers, designed by D.C.O.T.art, will include QR codes to help attendees find us after the event. Additionally, I am having several Noggles printed by a local 3D printer for media creation and giveaways during the event.

HowDarylRolls Video

I will also shoot a video documenting my road trip to the event with friends, skating, filming the event, and the workshop. This video will be released post-event to recap our activities, illustrate our work, and be used for future marketing. More details for the documentary will be outlined in a separate proposal.

Costs

  • Podium prizes: $800 USD = 0.298 ETH
